MPP Walker encourages seniors to apply for program funding

QUEEN’S PARK – Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker is encouraging local groups to apply before Nov. 30th for new provincial grants aimed at helping seniors be active, healthy and engaged in their communities.

Examples of projects that the province has supported in the past include financial literacy courses, computer applications, community events, exercise and cooking classes.

“If you organize or are involved in any such programs or services that directly benefit seniors in Bruce and Grey, then you may be eligible for any one of a number of new Seniors Community grants of up to $100,000,” says MPP Walker.

This year, the Seniors Community Grant is offering three funding streams, with the top one covering up to $100,000 for projects that are larger in scope and benefit more seniors over time. The other grants cover individuals who represent a seniors’ not-for-profit organization, local services boards, municipalities or Indigenous groups that are incorporated. These grants range between $1,000 to $3,000.

The application form and guidelines can be found at Deadline is Nov. 30th.

“I invite all seniors groups to apply and seek new ways to build communities that are safe and accessible environments for our senior residents,” say MPP Walker.

Questions about the Seniors Community Grant program can be answered by calling 1-833-724-4636 or by emailing
